Dreamcatcher
Meaning and task among the Indians?
The dream catcher was known for some tribes of the Indians. The real origin is now attributed to the Chippewa Indians. This cult object comes from the ojibwe culture. Viewed linguistically, it means roughly a spider web. Accordingly, this also explains the look of classic Dreamcatcher.
The Indians believed that evil spirits and demons on the sleeping cars and they hunt home in the form of bad dreams during sleep.
To prevent this, dream catchers were hung up. The evil spirits caught in the nets and could not penetrate the sleeping. In addition, the colorful pearls ensured that the demons were distracted.
The dream faenger was known to some Staems of the Indians
With the first daylight, the dark spirits burned and disappeared. The good souls and thoughts, on the other hand, were able to go through the fine network unhindered. So sleep was protected and even the thoughts could not be tied up by bad dreams.
Beautiful wall jewelry
Those who cannot gain too much to the spiritual meaning of this object will nevertheless be enthusiastic about the beautiful shape and design. Many hang the Indian art as a wall jewelry without knowing the real meaning. In your children's room, the dream catcher will definitely find a place above the cot. Not only purely optically, it enhances the ambience as a wall jewelry. The belief in him alone, many a child may help when falling asleep.

Tinker dream catchers for children: This is how it works!
It is easy to buy a Dreamcatcher. However, it is even nicer to dare to work and create a childlike Dreamcatcher together with the little ones. First of all, they are inspired by the multitude of possibilities, because everyone has something very special about. It is not that difficult to make a dream catcher yourself. All you need for handicrafts can be found in the largest part in Zwergehuus handicraft shop.
Starting at beautiful motif beads above Classic wooden beads up to the Thread cord. Furthermore, you need a small wooden ring (diameter should be around 20cm), a sewing needle, crafting home and then you can start:
Wrap the ring
The wood ring serves as the basis. You can also fall back on alternatives, such as a ring from rattan. Depending on what you like better. Now wrap this ring with a thread cord. There are countless color variants to choose from.
At the beginning they set a firm knot. You are also welcome to fix this with a little craftsman. The same applies if you have completely wrapped the ring with the thread cord. Place a knot here too and fix with a little glue.
Weave the network
Now it's time to spin the network. Is a bit tricky at first, but in the end it is not quite as complicated. The sewing needle is now used. Use another thread cord. In this case we recommend the color white. The handicraft beads and motif beads later set a better accent.
First, divide the ring into about ten equal sections. Now start pulling the cord from above through the ring (through the wrapped cord) and then going to the first thought marking. There the cord is placed around the ring and pulled again through the wrapped thread. Go on until you have a first tight network on the edge of the ring.
Now it continues in the "second row".
Instead of laying the thread on the ring, the loops are now placed around the thread of the "first round" and attached with a loop. A little skill is required, but it will be.
Accents when tinkering are important
From the second or the third round, you can now start decorating the network with pearls. To do this, simply thread a pearl of your choice on the thread. This is fixed by laying the loops.
Let your imagination run free. Pearls with motifs, such as animals or flowers, look particularly nice when you make a dream catcher for children. When the network is finished, you knot the last end of the cord.
The cords at the lower end
After the network is woven and the pearls sit in their place, it is now time to tinker the cords and threads for the lower part of the dream catcher. With the many craft ideas you will certainly come across a variety of variants.
We use thread cords in different colors. To get a stronger cord, braid a cord from three thread cords. Knot the lower end and like to open the loose ends a little so that the individual fine threads can be seen. You can make several stronger cords in this way. As an accent, you can easily set a cord with various pearls and motifs.
A classic Dreamcatcher usually uses springs here.
Classic dream faen with feathers
With a dream catcher for children, you can of course also use other materials. Finally, tie the cords to the ring and you already have your own dream catcher.
More craft ideas and variants
Instead of a large ring, you can also use smaller rings. A dreamcatcher does not necessarily have to hang as a wall jewelry above the baby bed. For example, make a smaller catcher for the stroller or car. Small dream catchers are less complex because they have to weave a much smaller network here. But these small versions also look stunning and give just as much joy in tinkering.
