Everything is done relatively quickly and after the cookies come out of the oven, they can be decorated to your heart's content. A wonderful idea for spending a dull afternoon having lots of fun. Children simply love trying things out and, of course, snacking on dough is part of it.
The little ones are delighted when delicious cookies are baked
Baking cookies with children - less is more!
If you want to bake cookies with your children for the first time, then make sure you have some easy recipes to hand. After all, the aim here is not to conjure up particularly spectacular cookies, but simply to discover the joy of baking. There are plenty of recipes for cookies that don't just taste delicious at Christmas, but can be enjoyed all year round.
As most doughs need to rest for a while, it is best to make an initial dough in advance. Place this in the fridge. When the children arrive, start preparing a second dough together with them. Of course, the little ones will be happy to help.
At the same time, they learn how to measure and mix the ingredients. Now the new dough can rest for a while and the first one can be used. Of course, something will go wrong. That's not a problem. It's best to dress your children in a nice apron. After all, real bakers wear one too. Incidentally, a children's apron with their name on it is a wonderful gift idea!
Roll out, cut out and into the oven
Either use a rolling pin to roll out the dough or wrap a bottle with some aluminum foil. Do not roll out the dough too thinly. You can use classic cookie cutters to cut out the dough. If you have small children, please make sure that they do not cut themselves on the bottom edge of the shapes. These can sometimes be quite sharp-edged.
If you don't have any shapes to hand, you can cut them out with a knife as an alternative. For children, it is of course best to use a plastic knife.
Children can help diligently when rolling out and cutting the dough
Another method for shaping the cookies: simply cut the dough into lots of small pieces, which you and the children can then roll into small balls. Now simply press them flat and you have pretty cookies that just need to go into the oven.
Tip: Preheat the oven accordingly when cutting out the biscuits so that the first tray of little delicacies can be placed in the oven immediately. In the meantime, you can continue to cut them out. In the meantime, the wonderful aroma is already spreading through the kitchen.
