" Beautiful and child-friendly ideas "
A key fob is a practical accessory, as it not only ensures that you have the right key to hand quickly, but also reduces the risk of losing your little door opener. However, it's not just the practical benefits that are important, but also the look. If you're fed up with the countless ready-made key rings you can buy in the stores, you've come to the right place, because we'll show you how to make your own key ring.
Craft idea: Design your own key ring
Almost everyone who goes through life with keys has a key ring with a key fob. However, the pendant doesn't always match your personal taste. Is it time for you to finally replace that tattered leather strap or sad-looking soft toy? Then why not try your hand at it yourself by using a few craft materials to make your own key ring.
We have put together three particularly beautiful DIY variations that you can use to make creative key rings.
In addition to being easier to recognize and decorative, a key ring has a whole range of other advantages. Firstly, it can be used to weigh down the bunch of keys so that they sink directly to the ground in your jacket or trouser pocket and are therefore less likely to fall out. This significantly reduces the likelihood of loss.

Making key rings: 3 great DIY ideas
Heart pendant made from string
From string can be used to make great creations. The following DIY idea is easy to implement, requires little crafting material and is also perfect as a gift for Mother's Day or for your best friend. Even children can easily make the heart pendant from string.
You will need:
- 2 strings of the same length in different colors (approx. 50 cm long)
- split ring (20 - 25 mm)
This is how it's done:
1 . Lay the double thread in the shape of a pretzel on the table in front of you.
- Now place the right end to the left and pull it through the left loop from bottom to top.
- Take the end of the cord from step 2 again and pull it through the same loop - again from bottom to top.
- Finally, pass the end under the next thread and pull it over the upper, right-hand loop. The heart shape should now be clearly visible.
- To finish the key ring, pull on both ends of the threading cords so that all the loops are pushed together.
- Knot both cords together and finally push the split ring through one of the loops.
Design a personalized key ring with a name
A personalized key ring pendant not only prevents confusion, but can also be attached to a child's school bag, for example, to make a clear statement. You can not only decorate the pendant with the matching name, but also make a clear statement with a word or two.
What you need:
- Letter beads with the required letters
- leather strap
- split ring 20mm
- colorful motif beads
- little bells
This is how it's done:
- Take a long piece of leather cord and knot it to the split ring.
- Thread on one or two motif beads first and then add the letter beads in the correct order.
- Now string on the desired number of motif beads again.
- Finish with the bell and knot the ribbon carefully.
Wool pendant for the key ring
You can quickly and easily make a soft and cuddly keyring pendant from wool. In combination with beautiful wooden beads, this will be a great eye-catcher on any key ring.
You will need
- thin cotton yarn
- wooden beads in the color of your choice
- Split ring 25mm
- leather needle
- some cardboard
This is how it's done:
- Cut out a 10x10 cm square of cardboard and develop it again and again with the cotton yarn until a thick bead is created.
- Now slide the bead of cotton yarn off the cardboard and develop it on one side with yarn to create a 1 cm long, round shape. Then knot the yarn carefully and cut off the remains with scissors.
- The second end of the bead is now cut open. Straighten all the threads again if necessary.
- Use the leather needle to pull a piece of cotton yarn through the upper end of the bead and knot everything neatly.
- Finally, string the beads and knot your masterpiece tightly around the split ring.
