Lastly, it is very versatile: whether you want to make spooky ghosts for Halloween, funny animals or a heart out of wool threads - for beautiful results, you often only need a pair of scissors, some cardboard and a few other craft materials that you almost always have in the house anyway.
Making dreamy wind chimes with wool
A wind chime is always a great decoration for the bedroom, living room or entrance area and also a great gift idea for grandma, aunties and friends. You will need the following craft materials: a thin metal or wire hoop, wool threads in the color of your choice, feathers, wooden beads, absorbent cotton, some ribbon, scissors, a needle and yarn.
- Wrap the metal wire generously with the threads.
- Thread the wooden beads onto a piece of yarn. wooden beads Repeat this process to create two identical pendants.
- As described above, make another pendant that looks different from the other two.
- Now knot the pendants into your wind chime so that it looks nicely symmetrical.
A heart made from wool

- Draw a large heart on a sheet of paper and then cut it out as a template.
- Place the paper template on the wooden board and fix it to the back with a small piece of adhesive tape.
- Now hammer the nails into the board along the template. Arrange the nails as close together as possible. Then remove the paper.
- Now it's the wool's turn. Attach the starting thread to one of the nails and wind it around all the other nails in any order until you have a beautiful, creative tangle of wool threads. Finally, knot the end of the thread.
The heart becomes even more beautiful with threaded details such as little bells, lentil beads or crochet beads.
Crafting with wool on Halloween: little wool ghosts
Little wool ghosts float around the house on Halloween night and create an eerily beautiful atmosphere. For this great Halloween decoration, you will need different types of white wool, red and black threads for the mouth and eyes, some cardboard, glue and scissors.
- Cut a strip of cardboard to any size you like. The larger you cut the strip, the larger the ghost will be in the end.
- Now wrap a first layer of the white wool threads around it. Then add another type of white wool on top. Continue this process until you think your ghost is thick enough.
- Pull a long thread under the other threads, pull it tightly together at the top and knot it neatly.
- Now cut the wool threads apart on the upper side and use them to create the ghost's hairstyle.
- Finally, create the eyes and mouth and attach them to your wool ghost with glue.
Making funny scarecrows with children
A wooden skewer, a polystyrene ball as a head, a few scraps of fabric and felt, fairy wool, pipe cleaners and some cardboard are all the craft materials you need to make a beautiful decoration for the flower pot.
- Cut out clothes for the scarecrow from the fabric and felt. Simply cut a long piece of fabric and make a hole in the middle for the scarecrow's head to fit through. A thin strip of felt will later serve as a belt.
- Draw a funny face on the polystyrene ball and create the hair from the wool threads. The finished head is now attached to the shashlik skewer with plenty of glue.
- While the glue dries, make a hat for the scarecrow out of cardboard. If required, you can decorate the headdress with colorful wooden beads.
- Insert the shashlik skewer with the head from underneath through the pre-cut clothing and fix the shirt in place by attaching the arms from the pipe cleaners.
- Finally, tie the felt belt around the scarecrow's belly.
Crafting with wool: colorful, fluffy pompoms
They are finally back in fashion, the fluffy, colorful pompoms that are easy to make from wool. Children have always loved these fluffy balls of wool and can easily make them themselves. All you need is some cardboard, scissors and colorful wool threads.
Making small pompoms
- Cut out two round discs of the same size from the cardboard. Make a hole in the middle.
- Place the cardboard discs on top of each other and wrap the threads around them to your heart's content.
- Once the hole in the middle is almost closed, carefully cut the wool threads at the edges of the discs so that the cardboard is visible again. Hold the pieces of wool firmly together so that they cannot come loose.
- Unfold the cardboard discs and wrap a thread around the middle. Secure the thread with a tight knot.
- Cut open the cardboard discs so that you can now remove them.
- Finally, use sharp scissors to cut your fleece ball into shape.
