"Loving eating accessories for little gourmets"
At the latest when the offspring gradually spurn their porridge and become increasingly interested in the family meal, it is time for us parents to purchase our first children's tableware. It should be beautifully colorful, with cute motifs and of course designed to be as child-friendly as possible. But which material is best suited to the offspring and what other aspects need to be considered when buying a tableware set? And is porcelain tableware suitable for children?
When your little one learns to eat independently
The change from baby food to normal family food is not too difficult for most children. The little ones usually enjoy finally being able to discover new flavors. Of course, it cannot be ruled out that drinking cups, plates and cutlery will occasionally end up on the floor during the first attempts at eating. With porcelain tableware for children, it's all half as bad, as it is extremely robust and can easily withstand various falls that are not too bad. A child-friendly tableware set playfully introduces children to eating together and the important rules of conduct at the table, as the colorful motifs immediately attract their attention.
When children learn to eat independently
Printed children's tableware is made from different materials and it is not uncommon for parents to wonder which products are preferable. Mothers and fathers often opt for plastic to prevent breakage, but is this really a good choice?
The right material: why porcelain tableware?
In addition to being break-proof, children's tableware made of plastic also has the advantage of being particularly light. This means that children's cups made of plastic can also be held securely in small children's hands. In addition, it is often offered at very reasonable prices. However, the big problem with plastic tableware is the large number of chemicals that can be contained in the plastic compounds. In particular, the chemical BPA and plasticizers (phthalates) have long been suspected of leading to infertility and malformations of the reproductive organs. In girls, this can also result in premature puberty and breast cancer in later years. Asthma and chronic allergies can also be linked to excessive exposure to hormonal substances. These harmful substances are released to a greater extent when in contact with hot food.
The synthetic resin melamine is also often used as a raw material for the production of children's tableware. However, here too it cannot be ruled out that harmful substances may be released when heated to high temperatures (over 70°C). Even if the filling of food and drinks below 70°C is considered harmless, the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment still advises against using melamine tableware for cooking or heating.
Porcelain tableware, on the other hand, does not contain any harmful chemicals like plastic tableware and can also be used safely for hot food and drinks. Ceramic or porcelain is made from clay minerals and can be individually shaped and painted so that plates, cups and cutlery with child-friendly motifs ensure a good mood at the dining table. One problem that concerns many parents is, of course, the risk of breakage that comes with using porcelain tableware. There's no denying that most little eaters have a lot of fun testing gravity by every trick in the book, which can quickly result in broken pieces. However, the general lifespan of children's tableware depends first and foremost on the temperament of your little one. Just as with various toys, some break all the time, while others hardly ever do. High-quality porcelain tableware for children also has another advantage: porcelain is significantly heavier than plastic. This means that the plate does not slip away immediately when eating and the cup also retains its stability if the child bumps into it carelessly.
The ideal birthday present: high-quality porcelain tableware for children
If you are looking for a good porcelain set, there is one important aspect to bear in mind: Be absolutely careful with glazes, as colored glazes in particular often contain substances that are harmful to health, such as lead or cadmium. This applies in particular to decorative items, but also to products purchased from abroad. It is important to make sure that the quality is right. Children's tableware must be of high quality and harmless to health - this is guaranteed by the "European Standard for Toy Safety" DIN-EN 71-3, which is awarded to the relevant products. This means that they are explicitly suitable for eating food from without hesitation.

With a 7-piece porcelain tableware set for children, you get everything your little one needs for a good start at their parents' dining table. A fork, a knife and a small and large spoon are just as much a part of a set as a bowl and a cup. The sets can even be personalized with your child's name on request.
