" Gentle on every baby's skin "
To gently cleanse baby's delicate skin when bathing, mom and dad naturally use fluffy, soft terry cloth washcloths. The fine texture is ideal for baby's sensitive skin. The same applies to the towels. The soft fabric clings to baby's delicate skin and dries it gently. But what does terry cloth actually mean? And what is important?
Terry cloth - the ideal fabric for delicate baby skin
Products made from this fabric can be found in countless households. Especially textiles such as towels, bath towels and washcloths. But as soon as a baby is born, the fabric becomes increasingly important. This is mainly because it is incredibly soft and fluffy and therefore ideal for cleaning and drying such sensitive skin as that of a baby.
Terry cloth is a cotton fabric. Due to a special weaving technique, various loop structures are created, which produce a high absorbency and give the fabric significantly more volume. The yarn itself is twisted to create different loop thicknesses. This in turn is the basis for the familiar structure of terry towels. The enormous absorbency of terry cloth has predestined it for home textiles of all kinds.
The name probably comes from the French verb "frotter", which means "to rub off" or "to rub dry". However, this fact has not been proven, but it is an interesting fact about the history of the name.
Are there differences in quality?
Yes, there are indeed different qualities. Inferior products sometimes use yarns that are not made from pure cotton. They are neither highly absorbent nor do they feel pleasantly natural. High-quality terry towels, on the other hand, are made of 100 percent cotton and are ideal for babies. The natural fabric cotton can neither irritate the skin nor lead to unwanted allergic reactions.
If you buy terry towelling underwear, make sure that it is made from 100% cotton. It is also important that the terry towels can be washed at 60 degrees Celsius.
At this temperature, home textiles become hygienically clean and high-quality terrycloth products neither lose their color nor visibly shrink. A slight loss of volume after repeated washing is normal. This is taken into account by the manufacturer and is not a defect in the high-quality products.
Which terrycloth underwear do babies need?
In addition to rompers, bodysuits and the like, the initial equipment also includes washcloths and towels. Of course, babies don't need to be bathed every day, but two to three times a week is fine. In the first few weeks, baby's skin is still protected by a natural coat and does not need any further care. Too much washing would damage this protective layer. Experts therefore recommend only one or two baths a week. When the baby is a little older, there is of course nothing standing in the way of more frequent bathing. Of course, perfumed bath additives should be avoided. There are special bath additives for babies on the market that mom and dad can use.
A proper bathing cloth is essential for bathing. Not only for washing and cleaning, but also for playing. It's amazing how much enthusiasm a little person can muster for a simple terry cloth washcloth. And if it comes in an appealing color and has a cute motif, the child will be even happier.
After a nice bath, the bath towel comes into its own. Cuddly soft and pleasant on the skin, it dries the little body quickly and reliably. A terry towel is used much more frequently. After all, washing a baby's hands several times a day is part of the routine. Even if they are cleaned with a small cloth rather than under running water, they still need to be dried afterwards.
It is advisable to have at least two towels, two bath towels and two to three washcloths in the house as a basic towelling set. This way, there is always a fresh one to hand in case the other one is in the wash.
Feel good in a baby poncho
You can add many other beautiful products to the basic set. For example, the towelling baby poncho is popular with many parents. The bath towel has an integrated hood. This means you can wrap your baby gently in it after bathing. Your baby will feel safe and secure in it and the soft fabric is cuddly soft against the delicate skin.
The integrated hood prevents the head from cooling down quickly and also protects against draughts. Bathing mermaids and mermen dry quickly in a baby poncho and enjoy the tender touches and caresses.
Such a special bath towel is simply a must and should not be missing from the baby's equipment.
Baby massages on a soft and fluffy towel
Midwives and pediatricians recommend a gentle massage to calm and relax your baby. Especially after a nice bath, a massage is the icing on the cake of an all-round feel-good program. To do this, lay your baby on a soft, fluffy terry towel. However, make sure the room is pleasantly warm beforehand.
